On June 07, 2024, the Elundini Full Service School had a wonderful milestone of the handover of the new Coding and Robotics lab by the Mark Headbush Foundation. This is an initiative formed to equip our learners with necessary skills in coding and robotics.
The overall lab is equipped with modern desks with Lenovo tablets, Lego Six Bricks, Pro U6 projector, Pish-Microbits tablets and Edu Lego Bricks. Am sure our students will have the best access to materials that will assist them in building their capacity in the field of robotics and coding.
The grand handover ceremony was officially opened by community councillor and later on graced by the mayor of Port Elizabeth. The director of Mark Headbush Foundation and Elundini Full Service School stakeholders were also invited, the presence of these people justifies the purpose of this wonderful gift.
Training of teachers
Through-out the year 2024, the teachers also have been in training; the quarterly programs we had are as follows:
March 4 – 7, 2024, we had a skills assessment, introduction to the project, teaching pedagogy, 6 six bricks workshops, and go-IT Challenge, etc.
April 23-25, 2024, we had an overall discussion of the training program and planning for the year 2025, go-IT Challenge.
July 9 – 12, 2024, 3-D printing workshops, micro bit workshops, Spike Prime workshop WRO preparation.
September 10 – 13, 2024, Additional workshop and activities.
All these periodic training programs were organized to equip teachers with all the relevant skills in preparation for delivering the best training to students in the newly acquired lab.
The establishment of a brand-new Coding and Robotics lab at Elundini Full Service School is not just a new facility, but a complete concept towards a bright future for our students. Thank you, Mark Headbush Foundation, for the tireless support and dedication.
